Dr Dušan D. Đorđević

Assistant Professor
Department of Mathematics

Dušan Đorđević was born on September 25, 1991. in Leskovac, Serbia. He finished both the elementary school "Kole Rašić" (1998—2006) and the high school, gymnasium "Svetozar Marković" (2006—2010), Specialized class for gifted mathematicians, in Niš, Serbia, with an average mark of 5/5 and as a receiver of the „Vuk Karadžić“ diploma. During his elementary and high school days, he successfully participated in various competitions in mathematics, physics and geography. He started his Undergraduate Studies in Mathematics in 2010 and completed them in 2013 (with an average grade of 10/10); then he started his Master Studies in Mathematics in 2013, and finished in 2015 (with an average grade of 10/10); and afterward, he started PhD Studies in Mathematics in 2015 and finished them in 2021 (with an average grade of 10/10); all at the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics, at the University of Niš. He defended his Master's thesis Simple Markov Population Processes and his doctoral dissertation The approximations of solutions to stochastic differential equations by applying Taylor series both in the field of mathematics, the discipline of stochastic analysis, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Miljana Jovanović. He works in the field of mathematics, mostly in the scientific discipline of stochastic analysis, but he looks to broaden his research to functional analysis, as well.

In the period from 2015 to date, he worked at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics at the University of Niš as a Junior teaching assistant (2015—2016), Teaching assistant (2016—2022), Teaching assistant with PhD (2022), and now he is an Assistant professor (2022—). During that period of time, he also worked at the Gymansium „Svetozar Marković“ in Niš for two school years and at the Faculty of Medicine at the same university for one school year. He has been a Secretary of the Department of Mathematics at UNFSM for one school year.

Until now, he has lectured on a number of courses field of mathematics. At the Gymnasium "Svetozar Marković", Niš, he lectured: Probability with Mathematical Statistics (Specialized class for gifted mathematicians); at the University of Niš, at the Faculty of Medicine, he lectured Mathematics (Integrated academic studies - Pharmacy); at the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics, within the Undergraduate academic studies, he lectured Mathematics (Chemistry), Probability and statistics in biology (Biology), Mathematics in biology (Biology), Mathematical Analysis 1 (Mathematics), Mathematical Analysis 2 (Mathematics), Intro to Complex Analysis (Mathematics), Intro to Probability (Mathematics); and, within the Master academic studies at the Department of Mathematics, he lectured Probability Theory, Stochastic Processes, Actuarial Mathematics and Game Theory. For the first time, he introduced the course: Game Theory to the mathematics studies at UNFSM in Niš.

During his Undergraduate and Master studies, he was a receiver of prestigious scholarships:

Republic scholarship, by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development, in 2011—2012, Dositeja scholarship, by the Fund for Young Talents of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Youth and Sports, in 2012—2013 and 2014—2015, and Scholarship for exceptionally gifted pupils and students, by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development, in 2013—2014.

He was the winner of the plaque of the city of Niš meant for graduate students from the University of Niš with an average grade of 10, in 2015. He was also the winner of the charter of the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics for outstanding contribution to science as a doctoral student in 2021, which he received in 2022.

He gave several lectures at scientific conferences and universities around the world (Novi Sad, Budva, Osijek, Split, Vrnjačka Banja) in the period 2019—2022. He was a participant in online conferences and gave talks in 2021, organized in Kyiv, Sarajevo, and Niš. He also participated in several scientific conferences and seminars where he only attended lectures (Ohrid, Belgrade, Berlin, Moscow, Lisbon), in the period 2016—2018.

He was a member of the project Functional analysis, stochastic analysis and applications, number 174007 (2016—2019), funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Serbia. He has been a participant in scientific projects of the Ministry since 2016 until today. He participated in a DAAD scholarship held in Novi Sad in 2016. He was also a member of the bilateral project with the Republic of Croatia: Application of stochastic models with short-term and long-term dependence structure (2019—2020), co-funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.

Hi is the author of three scientific papers of the M20 category so far.
